Especially when mobile plant components need to work together in an automated manner, millimeter-precise positioning of parts or workpieces is of utmost importance. For this purpose, sensors with various operating principles are available: laser distance sensors that measure against a reflector; barcode positioning systems, where a red light laser detects position and speed relative to a barcode tape; sensors for optical track guidance via edge detection; and solutions for precise positioning of telescopic forks using a camera.
With the FBPS 600i, the first safety barcode positioning system, only one sensor is now needed for reliable position detection. The device is connected to a safety analysis unit, e.g., a frequency converter, via two SSI interfaces and is suitable for applications up to Performance Level e. This significantly simplifies the implementation of safety functions and reduces installation and service time and costs.
