The portion of light detected by the receiver does not originate from the emitter. The maximum permissible temperature range at which a sensor can be operated ensures reliable sensor function. A device/function on the receiver generates a warning signal in case of malfunction. This can be caused by contamination or mechanical misalignment. The alarm output is activated if the received signal is within the alarm range for a defined period of time.
